I like clean installs as it doesn't carry the garbage forward including possible old driver issues. Next to upgrade the system to Win 7 picking a clean install. And I will say this, it is better than other vendors as it properly restores the recovery partion too. Always like to know if those OEM recovery things really work. Using the recovery media I made earlier, I recovered the Vista OEM image to the new disk. I added a second disk, using a newer SATA disk, unpluging the primary existing disk as to preserve it. But setting the CPU to never sleep fixed all that.

Turns out sleep/wake on Vista isn't always that reliable and messes up with Wireless LAN drivers and the TV PVR card. Came with Vista Premium and is new, runs Vista OK after I turned off the power conservation sleep mode on the system. The system is a HP with AMD quad proc, COTS from BestBuy. I have searched the web to death and am at my wits end. Is this card just completely incompatible with Windows 10? Is my motherboard the problem? Is the card somehow disabled and I'mīeing stupid? I'm not massively technically minded (hence why I didn't build the thing myself!). I figured I'd have one last shot troubleshooting here before going back to where I brought the PC and complaining to them again. There are two lights on the back of the wireless card. Uninstalling the Cisco VPN thing through command prompt. They reckoned it was a faulty card so sent me a new one. Contacting the support of where I ordered from. Trying the card in a different slot on my motherboard (and removing the card, then turning the PC back on etc) I have also tried installing them in compatibility mode with Windows 8. Downloading the latest drivers from Addon's site and installing/uninstalling a ton of times, in combinations of the drivers and with and without the extra software. Looking for new updates plus uninstalling and searching for new hardware through device manager. When I right click on itĪnd click 'open diagnostic testing mode' I get this: In device manager it shows a yellow exclamation mark and in my tray on the bottom right hand corner it shows a blacked out symbol and when I hover over it the phrase 'Addon Wireless LAN Card Not exist'. The PC came running Windows 10 which came preinstalled and I believe not to be an upgrade from 7 or 8 because I have the 10 installation disc. I brought a custom made PC this month and everything is great except the wireless card.
